Position Description

 

 

Position:  MTSS Interventionist
Reports to:  Principal
Terms of Employment:  10 months
Pay Grade:  Beginning $35,000 annually plus local supplement

Pay Range:  $35,000  $58,240 annually

FLSA Status:  Exempt

 

 

Nature of Work

Provides direct intensive intervention with students. Assist in developing a systematic school-wide approach to MTSS. Facilitates and coordinates the implementation of a classroom reading intervention program. Provides direct curriculum and instructional support services to teachers including effective strategies and intervention.

 

Education and Experience

Minimum of Bachelor's degree from regionally accredited college/university.  Knowledge of instruction, relevant curriculum and strategies leading to success for students not meeting grade level standards. A strong understanding of foundational reading skills is needed.

 

 

Certification and Licensure Requirements (if applicable):

Must hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License.

 

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

  • Knowledge of the MTSS model and how to implement interventions and monitor student progress
  • Knowledge of current research on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional learning (SEL) interventions
  • Experience working with and developing programs for diverse groups of students
  • Ability to analyze data and use data to drive decision-making
  • Assist schools in understanding screening, diagnostic and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners, instruction/intervention design, and students’ response to interventions, respectively.
  • Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students in pull out and/or classroom setting.
  • Assist with designing intervention and monitoring response to intervention for students who are struggling.
  • Assists schools in developing strategic plans for intervention and growth for all students.
  • Monitor and report out student achievement data associated with the multi-tier assessments.
  • Manage student intervention caseloads.
  • Mentor school-based Problem-Solving teams through development and implementation of MTSS at all tiers.
  • Maintains records as required by the school, District and/or state and makes appropriate reports as directed.
  • Communicate and work closely with the regular classroom teachers while assisting in the development of each students’ intervention program.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of data collection and progress monitoring
  • Develop and provide materials for/with colleagues
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Experience with the use of technology in the delivery of instruction to students.

 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees in this job must be energetic and flexible and possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with records processes, and do extensive reading and research. Due to amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light work.
