HUMAN RESOURCES LICENSURE SPECIALIST
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Human Resources Specilaist
Reports to: Assitant Superintendent of Human ResourceServices
Terms of Employment: 12 months
Pay Grade: 69
Pay Range: $3,469 - $5,967
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Nature of Work
To provide appropriate licensure for employees, assure compliance with state legislation pertaining to licensure requirements, and maintain confidentiality of personnel records.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of course work and
- Three to five years of work experience in a related field with considerable office experience in a school district (preferably in Human Resources).
- Effective communication and computer
- Knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations as they apply to teacher certification and other personnel.
- Knowledge of all licensure laws, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrate functional knowledge of HRMS and PowerSchool Applicant Tracking/Records
Certification and Licensure Requirements (if applicable):
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
- Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Craven County Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to personnel issues
- Work cooperatively in team setting to assure efficient and smooth administration of licensure procedures
- Meet with all newly hired licensed personnel to ensure updated and valid North Carolina Teaching License
- Request NC Teacher License for new employees
- Utilize HRMS program for processing all certified employees; assuring all necessary data
- Process all license requests for employees to include renewing, converting and extending licenses, adding license area, adding experience, applying for graduate pay, etc.
- Handles requests for licenses to add or delete areas, clear provisional, report course work or Pearson/Praxis/edTPA/PPAT scores, or add experience
- Assist with requirements for Educator Prep Programs for Residency
- Maintains frequent communication with personnel from Educator Prep Programs
- Maintains information for teacher certification and verify licensure requirements
- Inform teachers of their requirements through emails, letters and phone calls
- Verify applicants are HQ and have correct area of licensure before hiring and Transcript evaluation.
- Participate in professional development/training to meet state and local requirements
- Monitor and updates licensure records and maintain a licensure file as part of the personnel file.
- Work collaboratively with payroll to resolve any audit exceptions
- Coordinate the implementation of New Teacher Orientation.
- Prepare local and state reports such as the Beginning Teacher Report, the Teacher Turnover Report and all LicSal reports.
- Maintain information for teacher certification and verify licensure requirements in a timely manner.
- Assists the Assistant Superintendent/Director with special projects as needed such as Teacher of the Year/Principal of the Year.
- Performs a variety of related tasks as required.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources
- Exercises confidentiality in personnel matters
